Decorative hanging packaging with story about the artwork In February 1888, Vincent van Gogh left Paris and traveled to Arles in the south of France. There he painted the first of his nightscapes. Working under a street light, next to a café, he endeavored to capture the light of the gas lamps on the terrace against a background of darkened buildings and twinkling stars. More than a century later, it is still possible to go to the same café on the Place du Forum in Arles, and sit under the iconic yellow awning.
